grandparents

That’s my grandparents. Today is their 60th anniversary! Wow!!!

Jess and I are down here doing MPD and have had the privilege of staying with them and celebrating today! It’s unfortunately been kind of a rough week for them. My grandfather fell last Thursday and broke his arm. It’s been rough since then. He’s fallen again since then and the pain meds they have him on are causing him to hallucinate and be disoriented and not know where he is at times. But, my grandma has been their faithfully by his side this whole time no matter how rough it gets.

What an awesome example! When Jess and I have been married 60 years I look forward to being more committed than I’ve ever been!

Happy Anniversary Grandma and Grandfather!!!!

A certain moneylender had two debtors. One owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. When they could not pay, he canceled the debt of both. Now which of them will love him more?” Simon answered, “The one, I suppose, for whom he canceled the larger debt.” And he said to him, “You have judged rightly.” (Luke 7:41-43, ESV)

This is one of those scriptures that has marked me. I don’t think I’ll ever get over it, at least I hope not.

I used to wrestle with it a lot ’cause it says that the more we’ve been forgiven, the more we’ll love God. I used to wrestle with that. I would ask questions like, ‘what about murderers who come to follow Jesus? They get to love Him more than me, I’ve never done anything like that.’ It really bothered me for a while. But, then I had a revelation of grace…

And let me just say, you can’t really have a revelation of grace until you’ve had a revelation of sin. They go hand in hand. It was at the point that I began to realize the depth of darkness in my soul that I started to begin understanding grace a little better. It’s at that point that you really begin to understand that scripture above. That’s when you begin to realize just how big of a debt He forgave and how awesome the grace at the cross really was. Seriously, incredible…

I find myself more and more just thinking and meditating on God’s grace. It’s often times all I really want to talk about. It’s completely ridiculous (in an awesome way)!

…to a new blog. I finally pulled the plug and went self-hosted (I know, a little late). Definitely a very good decision! Anyway, for some reason, my feedburner won’t update so everyone’s gotta re-subscribe. Sorry…

Here’s the new address… wait for it, wait for it…

Would love your feedback on the sites. Let me know what you think, any errors, or improvements I could make. Thanks all!

I’ll be mostly double posting here and at the new site for a few weeks, but, that won’t last too long. And, there’s some stuff you’ll only get over there…

In the process of transitioning this blog over to a self-hosted wordpress, will be blogging a lot more once that happens…

Lot’s of other stuff going on as well. Will update soon! Maybe later today or tomorrow.

Pulled this off Lanny Donoho’s blog. Seriously Amazing!

I figured I’d continue with another great video. Great video from Craig Groeschel. Try, Fail, Learn, Adjust.

Pulled this from Tony Morgan’s blog.

Mark Driscoll cracks me up sometimes. I enjoyed this interview. Enjoy.

Ok, so, this past year a stimulus package was introduced by our government. Everyone was against it. And I mean just about everyone. Both the liberal and conservative media was against it. Why? The main reason I heard was that it was $750 billion dollars and that this was just a ridiculous amount of money to be spending/stimulating the economy with. It just wasn’t good. People called our president an idiot and worse names. People said that in general they were just unhappy with the way the government was spending their hard earned tax dollars.

So, now we have this $800+ billion dollar package and suddenly this has become a must pass bill and the republicans are prudes for not passing it, etc… And suddenly the main stream media thinks this is a good idea. What the crap?!?! This is straight up hypocrisy by the American media machine. This really upsets and frustrates the heck outta me.

Amy I the only one that feels this way?

Ok, so, this 14 year old kid set the world record in Guitar Hero. Un-freaking-believable. Check out the video below. It’s 7 minutes long and never seems to stop amazing me…

I found this interesting. What do you think? I’ll post on it again in a few days.

Read the CNN post here.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – President Barack Obama spoke out Thursday about his religious transformation. The President’s comments came at the National Prayer Breakfast.

Here’s what Obama said, according to the prepared remarks.

“I was not raised in a particularly religious household. I had a father who was born a Muslim but became an atheist, grandparents who were non-practicing Methodists and Baptists, and a mother who was skeptical of organized religion, even as she was the kindest, most spiritual person I’ve ever known. She was the one who taught me as a child to love, and to understand, and to do unto others as I would want done.

I didn’t become a Christian until many years later, when I moved to the South Side of Chicago after college. It happened not because of indoctrination or a sudden revelation, but because I spent month after month working with church folks who simply wanted to help neighbors who were down on their luck – no matter what they looked like, or where they came from, or who they prayed to. It was on those streets, in those neighborhoods, that I first heard God’s spirit beckon me. It was there that I felt called to a higher purpose – His purpose. “

Peggy Noonan has been one of my favorite political commenters for a while now. She says very well my thoughts much better than I ever could and she spent enough time in Washington to really know what she’s talking about. Here’s an article she recently wrote talking about the new stimulus bill in relation to the new president. Captured my thoughts pretty well… A worthwhile read…
